Summer School

Ash Manor School offered a place in Summer School to every student due to enter Year 7 in September 2024, our class of 2029.

Our Summer School lasted one week from Monday 19th – Thursday 23rd August.

Over 70% of the Year 6 students accessed all or part of the summer school.  They worked alongside 16 senior students who are either members of our Student Senior Leadership Team or subject ambassadors. Our cadets also contributed to the week, planning and delivering sessions.

The Class of 2029 spent the week working within the tutor groups that they will be in for the next 5 years, getting to know each other and learning together.  Each tutor group was supported by assigned senior students, and the level of support and encouragement shown by these older students helped everyone to learn more and to be confident about entering secondary school.

A wide range of subjects were covered throughout the week with classes in English, Maths, Science, Media, Food, Art, Languages, Drama, Music, Textiles, History and Trampolining as well as outdoor challenges with the cadets and a team building task providing by Surrey University.  Our students also got the chance to experience the great food served in our canteen throughout the week with meals provided for everyone.

All of the lessons were delivered by Ash Manor teachers, ensuring that the excellence we value so highly was delivered.  This also allowed the Class of 2029 to meet the same teachers they would work with from September.

Summer School 2024 was a huge success with loads of positive feedback from the Class of 2029, the SSLT and ambassadors, the cadets and the staff – a great week for everyone involved.
